Question:

Which of these is NOT part of the basic method of shifting up?

A Accelerating while pressing the clutch and turning toward the driver's side
explanation

Basic Method for Shifting Up. Most heavy vehicles with unsynchronized manual transmission require double clutching to change gears. If equipped with a synchronized manual transmission, double clutching is not required. This is the method:
• Release the accelerator, push in the clutch, and shift to Neutral at the same time.
• Release the clutch.
• Let the engine and gears slow down to the revolutions per minute (rpm) required for the next gear (this takes practice).
• Push in the clutch and shift to the higher gear at the same time.
• Release the clutch and press the accelerator at the same time.
Shifting gears using double clutching requires practice. If you remain too long in Neutral, you may have difficulty putting the vehicle into the next gear. If so, do not try to force it. Return to Neutral, release the clutch, increase the engine speed to match the road speed, and try again. [Commercial Driver Handbook]
