Each member state of the Driver License Compact shares information about a motorist's moving violations with the state that issued the motorist's driver's license. Each member state of the Non-Resident Violator Compact allows a motorist who receives a citation there to continue on his or her way even if the motorist is a legal resident of another state. Furthermore, the other state agrees to suspend the driver's license of the motorist if the motorist fails to comply with the citation. Note, however, that not every US state is a member of these two compacts. Currently, 44 states including West Virginia are members of the Driver License Compact, and 44 states including West Virginia are members of the Non-Resident Violator Compact.
