If you spot a hazard ahead, what should you do first?

A Make a contingency plan.

A hazard can be either a road user or road condition that presents a possible danger. Though a hazard is not an emergency it can become one. When you spot a hazard, think about the emergencies that could develop and formulate plans (such as evasive action or braking) to deal with them. Be prepared to carry out such plans.
