Practice with your CLP before you'll be allowed to schedule your skills test to earn your full commercial driver's license. After 14 days, you will be able to take your CDL exam. When you go to the exam, you must bring A valid CDL holder with you to the testing site.
Maine CDL Requirements
All CDL holders in the State of Maine are required to have a valid DOT medical card. Failure to keep Medical Certification current will result in disqualification from the non-excepted interstate operation and downgraded to an excepted status.
Maine CDL Permit Test - Air Brakes. Directions: This endorsement is required for driving a vehicle with air brakes. To receive this endorsement, applicants must pass a written test.

Before your commercial license expires, the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) will send you a renewal card for your Maine CDL and any current endorsements. Here's the good part: You don't have to retake any exams. All you do is take your card into any Maine BMV office and pay $34 for another 5 years.
The doctor will check your ears, eyes, mouth, heart, lungs, and spine for all basic functions. They will also look at your vascular function and neurological alertness. No matter where you take your DOT physical, the requirements for eligibility are all the same.
Your driver's license will be valid for 6 years.
If you fail the test within ninety days you are allowed to retake it two more times, though usually you have to wait one day between attempts and you may be charged a reexamination fee each time.
You may be eligible to renew your driver's license online. You can renew your driver's license by going to any of the motor vehicle branch offices or mobile unit sites. Acceptable forms of payment for fees are Cash, Check (Made out to the Secretary of State), Money Order, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.
